Its rainy season, but most of the day is sunny in Puerto Rico. Right now you can get non stop round trip in august for well under 300/ticket. Many of the resorts have kids clubs. When I was burnt out with young kids, we did AIs in a variety of warm places and it was perfect--everyone can eat whenever, whatever, no paying for each meal, kids clubs, pools, etc.

While these were not culturally or intellectually stimulating trips to say the least, it did provide a break and some fun family times. We've moved on but I definitely remember those years and even planning a trip felt like yet another burden, but if you just have to get plane tickets and a reservation, you should be fine.

Tyler Place is magical (I’m currently wearing my ratty TP t-shirt) but when we went 20 years ago, it was more than $10 grand a week and booked solid, so don’t count on it for this summer.

You can also book someplace without a kids club and sign your kid up for a local day camp. A friend does this fairly often .

Thanks for this! Not OP but in the same boat re august and the heat was my concern about SC. Love Hilton head but have only been in April/May.

I actually love the SC beaches so much but if you go in August, you need to be okay with oppressive heat. I personally love swimming, but there’s only so long a 4 year old will last and it’s tough to watch two kids in the ocean.

When I had decision fatigue and was totally burned out on everything and DH was zero help in planning our vacation, I booked a trip through Costco that included everything except meals - airfare, rental car, hotel, tickets to Universal. I'm not suggesting Universal in August with a 6 and 4 year old, just suggesting that a package deal might be your best option.

I’m sick of generic resorts that are all the same. When we go out of the country we stay in neighborhoods (Airbnb) and rent a car. Your kids are young so maybe not yet but it’s a more interesting trip.

Expedited passports are taking 8-10 week’s currently. Regular service is 16+ weeks.

Yes, Kiawah Island Resort has kids camp/activities.

I read OP's post and my first thought was Kiawah.
