If I see something really cool and unique that I love I will buy it, but I am never on a mission to buy something as a souvenir.
Only exception is that I do try to buy a Christmas Ornament on each big vacation.

I just got a reusable bag on my trip to Paris. I love using it!

My wife brought home COVID last Summer. We were in Europe with her, but based on timing, my daughter and I didn't catch it from her until we got home.

The trip before that, I brought home some Cantillon sours, something you don't see here in hte DMV beer stores.

I have a silver charm bracelet that my mother gave me when I was 14 in the late 1970s. I buy a charm from every place I visit - not a Pandora charm but traditional charms. I always get compliments about the bracelet and people will ask me about the individual charms. The charms are not very expensive, usually less than $40 a piece.

Fun Haribo flavors in Germany were such a hit. I’m a teacher and brought back a few for my coteacher who loves Haribo and we shared them with the kids. One package we translated and the flavors were “childhood bangers” and it was all stuff you ate as a kid. We had so much fun trying to guess what each flavor was before we Google translated it. Turns out “wackelpudding” was Jello. In Japan you should get the different KitKat flavors they have, we tried banana a few years ago and it was shockingly good.

From India I have long skirts I bought in a market. This was nearly 20 years ago and the elastic in the waist is shot and needs replacing but my daughters love them. Also brass from India.

Generically, I get a Christmas tree ornament from everywhere we’ve been. I love at Christmas when you go to other people’s houses and can see the whole story of their family on the tree. Milestones, kid created school ornaments, travel ornaments. It’s beautiful to see it all in one place every year and to add to the story each December when we pull out the newest additions. A lot of people get a magnet for their garage fridge if they have one and I also like that idea.

We get a couple of Christmas ornaments every time we travel

Spin: Espadrilles, Maja soap, Badedas and/or Magnolia bath gel, saffron, art.

Icelandic wool blanket- so warm and cozy
Wine and chocolates
Soccer jerseys for our son
