Not at our school. A few may have volunteered for an event that PTA does but the majority are not involved. They just want to make sure their kid has a great end of elementary experience.

Hmm, I guess I’d describe it as a moderate amount of surprise.

Definitely less surprised than I would be about, say, the sky turning green tomorrow.

Ok, well plenty of schools can’t even get that, so consider your school lucky.

I also had no idea this varied so much. Ours was in the afternoon at the high school, kids went to school as normal that morning and were bussed there and a letter came home saying it is tradition to take the kids home with you. Class party was the next day.

Our PTA has nothing to do with the promotion ceremony. It’s at night at a feeder high school and run by the school.

Op here - ours did the same. However, the ceremony was in the morning and the party was in the evening. The question was regarding the afternoon.

Ours had their grade level party on Tuesday afternoon. The promotion ceremony was this morning and most students went home with parents afterward (around 10 am). It is kind of tough on those whose parents can’t attend.
