Because premier 1 usys is considered 2nd league. 1st league would be ecnl where stronger girls teams play. It's like having mls next for boys, and then having usys/edp premier 1 (which are 2nd level teams or clubs that do not have mls next).

Most of the ECNL teams have way more than 18 on their roster- some have close to 30. They can only roster 18 for a game but there are definitely more kids practicing.

If your kid is a strong player- there is always a spot

FCGB plays in EDP League - not even USYS NL. I wouldn't think would be trading up.

She is currently EDP but lower level. Split middie and striker. Very fast. Thanks for the FCGB recommendation!

I strongly recommend FCGB in Montgomery County. Nothing but great atmosphere and development there.

So you did some homework, you're welcome! ECNL-R and EDP are good places to start looking at.

Mostly joking, but the point as other posters have also mentioned, is what have you done?? You come one the board, ask a question and then are not happy with any of the responses. Care to provide the board with an update? Lot of useful information was provided to you. No one really cares if you dd plays ECNL or not.

Each responder has provided answers that you have not accepted. The common theme: YOU NEED to do some WORK in contacting the clubs and scheduling trainings for your daughter. Most parents at this point in the year do not know what next season's roster looks like or if there are open spots. Generally one can assume that there are 1-2 spots available. If your daughter is that really special player that you think she is, she will be offered a spot. We don't know your kid nor do we know what team she might qualify for (Top, second, or lower). Every parent thinks their kid is the next great fill_in_blank. The reality is often different than our parental assessments.

It will take you 10-15 minutes and a couple emails to reach out to the respective coaches. I went through this when my daughter trained with / tried out for two new clubs this spring prior to their official tryouts. The process wasn't difficult at all. It took 10 minutes of my time to figure out who to contact and then craft emails. But if you want to continue to wait for the exact info you want, rather than what has been provided, carry on....

This summer, find a good training group for your player. As a previous poster mentioned, NexStar does well with boys and girls. The better trainers in the area generally have relationships with the local clubs and will help steer you to them.

I know you are not speaking to me directly but people do want to play ECNL, that isn't the problem. The problem is when you go and other parents think they have a future USYNT player and they treat everyone else on the team like crap. Great ECNL teams usually have parents that promote teamwork instead of individual talents. I can't speak on Bethesda other than what my friend has told me. Always two sides to every story...but was just trying to help since I was told they have a short roster.

Also, I don't know how willing you are to drive. Bethesda is the only elite Club in Mont Co., next closest is McLean, Arlington, or Baltimore Armour.

Oh and I agree with others, if your child is indeed on the top level, and a team is short of 18 players, most will take her. It's the teams that are already at that 18 number who will tell you to look somewhere else until next year. Bethesda, Union and Arlington all have Super Y teams if you really need to get a foot in the door.

If you want to get in with Bethesda, you should look into Next Star Trainings. They train top Bethesda talents during the off season and have the direct ear of coaches.
