Were they a top scorer for XGA, CGA and EGA too?

It is likely that advanced math placement won't be decided until 2-3 weeks into the next school year. Many schools use their beginning of year math tests in their placement decisions. For my advanced math kid, the placement was based on CogAT Q score, end of year math test score for the previous year, beginning of year math test for the current year, and teacher recommendation. Usually, advanced math didn't start until 1 month into the school year, and decisions weren't made until close to that point.

Advanced Math and LIII are school decisions, not County decisions. Our school uses grades, SOL scores, iReady, and a test to determine who will be in Advanced Math. Advanced Math in 3rd and 4th is in the classroom with differentiation. There is a separate class that is comprised of Advanced Math students is 5th and 6th grade when the kids are accelerated a year. DS has done fine with this set up. I know some of his classmates have had 2’s and 3’s this year (5th grade). I know this because we car pool with some of the kids and they discuss their grades or their parents will make a comment.

Each school makes their own selections based on their criteria so you really need to ask at your school how they make their choice.

What was the cogat quant score? We got rejected too, waiting on the appeal. Similar cogat score. 140 quant.

It’s based on building/school. Score only matters compared to peers.
