We gave $25 gift cards when invited to graduation party. As a family, we barely know the family hosting; the connection is through the kids.

I gave $100 to a not close neighbor.

I would give $50, $100 or $200 depending on how close.

For a close friend’s graduate, I did a $50 gift card to the college bookstore where they would be heading in the fall, and a $20 bill plus $23 for “2023” to make it fun.

We’re having a graduation party and don’t feel like people need to bring gifts. If they do, I feel like $25 is plenty and wouldn’t want more. But it did make me more constrained in the guest list because I didn’t want to invite anyone where they would feel like they’re invited solely to bring a gift. Should we just say your presence is your present? I know etiquette is always divided on that.
