It's usually code red a lot of the summer when it's humid and above 90.

And yet we survived. How did we make it this far?

Capital weather gang mentioned airnow.gov as a resource. Rochester shows as "very unhealthy" (looks like one step beyond code red, which is "unhealthy").

I (unknowingly) went for a bike ride and a dog walk yesterday with no noticeable effects.

I ran today and really struggled with breathing!

This morning I saw several joggers (the cyclists were probably on their way to work).

It's NOT smart to exert yourself in a Code Red situation. It means you will inhale significantly more particles, which can cause breathing issues right away, but also reduce your longevity if you expose yourself too often. Wildfire particulate matter creates inflammation, decreased lung and heart function and is carcinogenic.

Air pollution is one of the leading causes of death worldwide.

Yesterday seemed fine to me, yet overnight started to get a touch of a headache which seems to have lasted. Should’ve gotten out of bed to close the one remaining open window. All shut now w HEPA on for the day.

How many days does this last??

At my son's soccer practice last night. 5:00 fine, by 6:00 the air was noticeably hazier and all the perfectly healthy kids started coughing, sneezing, wheezine. It was literally like a flipped switch.

I’m running inside today. I was at Hains point yesterday afternoon and it wasn’t bad. Today is significantly worse.
