These were borderline raunchy - if you are similar to my age — pride in Atlanta was borderline freaknik for the black lgbtq community. Not particularly kid friendly. Lots of skin exposure, pda, etc. I was only there for the glitter and feather boas! Having not been in Dc for pride - have any of you attended and is it appropriate to bring your kids?

Never seen one that was kid friendly, which is unsurprising because pride month is fundamentally about sex. It's like Oktoberfest stuff. That's fundamentally about drinking alcohol, also not kid-friendly.

Pride month is not fundamentally about sex.

You’re in luck! A whole list of “the best of” (not all of) family-friendly Pride events in our area! It took me a whole 5 seconds to Google. Happy Pride!

In what universe is this appropriate for children?

In what universe isn't it?

I’ve been going to Provincetown since I was little. I’ve taken the kids every few years since they were born. Not just for carnival week or the parade but also the beaches and other activities. No one is having sex in public.

We are not festival/event/rally type people, so no. Nothing against Pride. I don’t want to go to the Herndon Festival either.

Pride is not fundamentally about sex. At least no more than a straight wedding is fundamentally about sex.

Have you ever been? There are tons of families with kids every year. Some of them have gay parents, some are gay themselves, others are allies. You sound like a small minded bigot who mind directly goes to sex whenever they think gay.

There are multiple churches that have contingents marching in the DC Pride parade.

Lots of pride events are family friendly. Lots of perfectly boring two-mom or two-dad families out there, as well as ally families.

We had planned to go to Reston Pride, but came down with strep so we skipped. My church is one of the sponsors.

Yes. My daughter looks forward to it every year. We all do actually. And think it’s extra important this year to show up, with the nationwide threats growing by the day.
