Guy two houses down is the best I’ve ever had because we never talk or even hi.

The old Irish grandma of the neighborhood, Kathleen ("Kat-leen" with her brogue). She was in her 80s when I was born, would have me over for tea with her fancy china and let me bring my dolls. Her husband died in his 60s and she never remarried. She had 14 children, 38 grand children, and 71 great grand children that visited her ALL the time- multiple family visits per day. She lived alone, never wore glasses, and peacefully died her sleep at 106. She traveled the world by herself well into her 90s and would bring me back coins from all these cool places. My middle name is Kathleen after her.

When I was in preschool my elderly neighbor took me on his golf cart to play "help" in his garden. It was nice to get away from my parents, and he was very friendly.

The ones I currently have. They're really nice, but not too close, just right. The neighbor across the street took in my kids one afternoon when I had a medical emergency and was ambulanced to the hospital. I have friendly chats with the mothers on the street.

I lived in apartments in Europe as a child and my parents did not like most of our neighbors - some were noisy, and some were racist, no one was friendly except one, who I do remember fondly.

Good neighbors really make a difference to your quality of life.

My neighbor caught a guy burglarizing our house. She chewed him out and he left our TV. We’ve lived next door to each other for 17 years and completely rely on each other for package pickup, eggs/sugar/milk in a pinch, cat care, etc. I feel very lucky.

We have a 14yo girl next door who I come into our 2 and she’s eating Doritos and waiting for me to give her advice about middle school. I love seeing her sweet little face and her mom is so embarrassed she hangs out so much and I find it so sweet. She just needs a buddy who’s not her mom to repeat what her mom says and I’m lucky I’m that. She’s also amazing w our son.

Why couldn't he throw them from his own roof

Because it wasn’t directly across from the playground like ours was. Thank goodness he also has bad aim.
