Not OP but agree. Not my favorite thing but most owners clean up and as noted that strip doesn’t belong to them. The signs attract male dogs, so it defeats the purpose.

We don’t even maintain that grass ourselves. Our HOA pays a landscaping company to do it, so we are paying for it with our HOA dues, but nobody considers it their personal property.

I have a dog, and don't mind some neighbors who do this. When they put up a sign on the verge, I don't let my dog pee there. Usually he gets my command on time, and pees elsewhere. Rarely, he's already going, and I can't stop him. I like the more sneaky neighbors who put up "treated lawn" signs, even though they haven't, and I avoid those verges too.

I'm a nice person and try to work with everyone's idiosyncrasies. Try it, instead of raging. It's better for your health.

My neighbors grow vegetables in their tree box. But they are genuinely terrible people, so I think it’s hilarious when I see dogs pee on them.

I'm in the city and especially hate these in the tree boxes that contain nothing but a big tree and dirt. You haven't bothered to do jack with the spot, but you're bothering with a sign to keep dogs from peeing on the dirt patch? Get real.
