I’ve been impressed with her growth and opportunities to explore many different styles of dance. The Strathmore location is gorgeous - Parklawn not so much but perfectly functional. There are a few vocal posters on this board who hate CityDance for some reason, but it’s been a supportive and nurturing environment for our daughter. If your daughter is already dancing at a high level, I’d recommend she audition for a summer intensive to learn more about the program. CityDance Studios is geared toward recreational dancers and it’s a very different program. Maybe more akin to Ovations or BCOD but I can’t say for certain.

They don't have dancers in the conservatory, and are going off their year or three their kid struggled through the rec programs most likely.

You don't know that. Seriously, I am glad you are happy. Others, may, and certainly have, had differing experiences. It is worthwhile to consider that as a person choosing a facility. My thought is that the CD program is uneven. The best get the best and every one else gets scraps at best. Do I assume that my child's experience is the only experience? No. Was I, or more importantly they, happy there? No. And no, they did not struggle with rec classes. They are extremely competent dancers, sought after even. You do you. Don't assume that you have the only experience.

Are you the one who left to go to BCOD? If not, where did your dancer land?

I can say for certain that my daughter moved from CD Conservatory to BCOD and got much better training in a much healthier environment. Their are recreational classes too but the high level training is far superior. Can't speak to Ovations.

She’s been at MYB and taken intensives at TWSB. She loves ballet but is stronger in contemporary. She wants high level training in jazz and modern. Does not want competitions.

She sounds like my daughter that wilted in the CD environment. Try ovations or Bethesda Conservatory of Dance. We are happier there.

We love Ovations! They are thriving - my daughter absolutely loves it

OPs daughter is likely too advanced for Ovations' ballet classes.
