FYI - Jackson Reed is the only DCPS school where a student walked through the front door with a gun... FYI.
Wait, can you please tell us about this gun incident? One got inside of school? - another concerned JR parent
There were two gun incidents at Wilson (now Jackson Reed) of which I am aware:

and

Edit to add: There is no evidence that the knife or knives involved in the incident being discussed in this thread had ever been in the school.

First of all, no knives in Jackson-Reed. Security guards are pretty good in my opinion and do not let kids just slide through. They do a very good job at controlling the chaos.
Second, I don't know about Banneker but Walls has a lot more drug and alcohol abuse (not that it doesn't happen at JR) so there is always something.
Why are you throwing out random slander at Walls without any evidence to back up your assertion? That is not cool.
Random slander hitting a lot of targets in this thread. Which is why these threads are at best pointless, at worst actively harmful.

No wonder our schools are such a mess and teachers are leaving the profession. The social justice pendulum needs to self correct.
But that won't happen. Parents that care about their kids will mouth the platitudes and in the meantime quietly move to the burbs or privates. If you have another option besides knives and guns, you'll take it. Meanwhile, DCPS schools will quietly go to hell because no one dares say a word
We had the opportunity to vote for a different mayor and different CMs and, as a whole, did not take it. We get what we vote for.

Do we know which HS they were from? Why were they outside JR at 3.30 pm? That means they either left their own school early or never went to school on Friday
You understand that High School students have more flexibility in their schedules.
Students may have free periods (beyond lunch)

Read Frumin's letter. Knife incident was at CVS.
