"Prude" women? Nope. Women with class, who don't need the validation of being gawked at by strangers while at the grocery store or picking up the kids from school.

While there was definitely a complement from the DH, it wasn't exactly "unqualified" in her mind since he didn't favor her leggings or yoga pants. But I agree that she's not seeing the positive here, which is almost everything he said.
According to OP, he said she looks great in everything but prefers jeans over leggings. You really have to work to find a backhanded compliment here.

OP, do you tend to wear leggings/yoga pants anyplace outside the house? Maybe your DH is trying to find a diplomatic way to tell you that it's not a look for outside the house or the gym. They're often skintight and maybe he feels that he prefers to keep your curves for himself and/or the look is too revealing.
Some leggings/yoga pants are tight in front as well as in back (do I need to elaborate here? I hope not) and I really wonder sometimes if women wearing them at the store, around town, etc. realize that.
