There's a lot of space between closing down schools and workplaces and reverting back to exactly how we did things in 2019 when there wasn't a novel virus infecting everyone.

We should focus on air quality and ventilation #1 - all indoor spaces can be upgraded, especially schools. We should spend time outdoors when we can, including school. We should mask with a quality mask whenever we have symptoms of any illness to protect others. We should mask with a quality mask in most places indoors when we're in the middle of a wave. We should mask in healthcare settings and pharmacies, on public transport. We should test when we have symptoms and isolate.

You can do all of those things with minimal impact to your daily life. You can still be out there doing everything you want to do. You can be smart about this virus at the same time. It's not all or nothing.

Both my son and I got strep. Not my daughter (the only one who has never had Covid to our knowledge and we still test colds. I’m assume she’s had it though).

The pediatrician is spouting nonsense. There's no evidence for immunosuppression after covid -- this is a nonsense theory that was being spread on Twitter last fall. Kids with viruses in general (including but not limited to covid) are more susceptible to strep co-infections, but that is unrelated to the prolonged immunosuppressed state that Covidians claim happens after covid.

Interesting. Only one of my 2 kids had Covid and he just got over a really bad case of strep -he still was feeling horrible 3- 4 days after starting antibiotics. The other kid who didn’t get Covid never (or hasn’t yet) caught the strep.

PP. We do none of that. The one prone to strep had her tonsils out 12 years ago and no one has had it since.

As someone with an autoimmune disease,I have come down with strep throat multiple times a year since moving to MoCo pre Covid.

I've finally gotten a break during the pandemic, and it's one of the reasons I haven't stopped wearing a mask inside public places.

Kids and adults who have had Covid are finding they have an immune system unfortunately more like mine now.

Oh I guess their covid was winter 2022 fwiw.

If not covid, what do you think has changed? There has never been this much strep going around, multiple rounds in each class one after another.

I think what changed is that we never avoided human contact for 1.5 years before.

Majority that keep getting it have had covid. It’s just the beginning of what having covid can/might mean for people.

Majority of kids have had covid - so of course so will the majority of kids getting strep.
