Yes please give something. These coacbes put in so much work. If your child enjoyed it and learned something buy them a gift card! I usually do $20 for each coach.

I have no idea. Parent reached out to everyone and organized, so I didn't say anything, just put my $15 in.

A parent emailed everyone and suggested $15 each to Baskin Robbins. I don't know what the coach will do with a $100+ gift card to an ice cream shop, but maybe I'm just a killjoy.

My DH volunteer coaches, and he has one parent who assts him tremendously. It averages 3-4.5 hours of his time each week (1 or 2 practices/week depending on the league/age, 1 game/week), there are occasional calls he needs to attend at the beginning of the season as well with the league. He takes it seriously. And wants the kids to have fun and develop their skills, so he devotes time to planning practice drills and communicating with the parents each week.
He enjoys doing it and does not expect anything from the parents other than their participation support... making sure the kids make it to the majority of practices, come prepared for the games and cheer the team on through good and bad games.
He's done this for several years for both of our kids for both Rec and ADP teams and there are sometimes when one parent whose child never comes to practice expresses their frustration when their child doesn't start on game day - or get as much playing time as the parent believes they should - DH always rotates for even play time for all. Or the occasional parent that gets upset with him because of when and where the league scheduled their games (this is all FFX county and Arlington County). So there is a small but of drama that he has to deal with - but not often. Thankfully none of his teams have had any issue with parents acting ugly to him or the ref's at games - but we've seen it a couple of times on the teams they've played.
All that being said, I know DH appreciates the gesture at year end - but it doesn't have to be anything big. I don't think he's ever coached a team that didn't give him a thank you card and gift card or gift basket. Some parents are actually too generous and have given him $100-200 gift cards (aside from the group gift). Honestly, it's the kind words of appreciation from the kids he enjoys most. The years where the team has done a pizza party after the last game were also fun.

They will still do it whether you give thanks or not, but a thank you in any form is nice. Our DC’s coaches last 2 years spent gift cards they got on stuff for the team- end of year “prizes” and pizza party.

No. I stopped doing gifts with everyone outside of my nuclear family. Everyone has too much stuff already. For teachers, coaches, and such, my kids write them a thoughtful note in a card

Agree, kind of short. Usually someone like a coach's spouse or good friend on the team will collect.
Never had a coach spouse ever take up collection before- if you wait for that, it won’t happen.
