I'm trying to fly to Grand Cayman this fall/winter. Holy moly, those tickets are expensive. I'm waiting for now.

I wouldn’t pay that much in normal times, but I lost two elderly relatives there during the pandemic and another isn’t doing well recently. It’s a trade off. It’s not ideal, but we’re paying it.

Yeah, I haven't been since 2019 and usually we'd go back home 2x a year. I just spent a ridiculous amount on tickets because I have a family member not doing well.

You have choice with airlines, not so much with internet.

The issue with tickets is there is a limited supply and a lot of demand. It is all of the points programs.

We decided to scale back our flying and add in more drivable vacations using Airbnbs it wasn't worth the extra cost. What's even more ridiculous is that economy is so much higher that business isn't that much more so it's like might as well pay for business class if you are paying that much or just not go.

If you buy far in advance it helps (just got next spring break) but yea it’s still higher than it was before. But what isn’t? It stinks. But when I complained on a non-travel thread about the cost of things, all the rich folk told me they hadn’t really noticed.

No...just paid 286 one way United (no seat selection but there were no non middle seats available so not point) and 344 the other on Alaska.

This. Also, you have to book out way in advanced. I had a ton of points saved up over the pandemic, but booked my award tickets to Asia back in January.

I think I did pay a ridiculous amount to fly direct IAD to STT (to go to St John) during the summer of 2021.

I end up saying time is money when I pay more for direct flights rather than paying less but having a layover.

I don’t always pay that much if I don’t have a set place that I have to go. I like to use the Google flights explore feature and see where I like the flight price and decide where to go that way.

We need another lockdown, loved the cheap flights and hunkering down in far out Airbnbs. Sad

Schools are already going back in August. We're going to Seattle in July and paying almost $800 RT.

Just back from SD. My round trip with tax and fees was slightly less than $400 but one stop each way. Wasn’t too bad
