I will absolutely be wearing my Hokas with sundresses in Paris and Rome this summer. No way am I risking blisters or feet that hurt when I have a lot to do in limited time. I’ve tried Toms, Vans and Born so far and nothing else is as comfortable, so I’m willing to sacrifice a bit of fashion for comfort.
I just got back from Greece and Italy, and many, many women were wearing more supportive, athletic-style sneakers with skirts and dresses. You won't be "out of fashion."
Yes. You will.

You have to buy an insole for Vans- they are flat. I wore some last year on a trip thinking they were comfortable and I killed my feet and got a bout of plantar fasciitis. They’re comfy for shorter events.
