If everyone lied that would make DCUM boring. What makes it fascinating, is that people reveal their true lives, financial and otherwise
This. It’s not like we can talk with friends that we have a 7 plus figure net worth, or 4 investment properties, or high value funded 529. We live modestly and you would never guess so. Only on an anonymous board.

One of my favorite things to do is to read forums where ultra high net worth people share their f***ing delusional philosophies on money. I’m obsessed with this one mommy forum, it’s called DC Urban Mom and there’s a discussion thread where someone who has $30 million says they can’t afford to fly private. Not even once. They said maybe when we have $100 million. …the same forum has other threads where someone who makes $250k a year says they can’t go on vacation.
I think it’s great that DCUM routinely recommends Ramit’s book while he comes here to laugh at how insane we all are. The full quote has more swearing it haha y’all got him fired up.
Have you considered that maybe it's Ramit himself recommending his book here?
The guy has his own Netflix show. I'm pretty sure he doesn't need to troll another 6 people into buying his book.

There is someone here who posts not infrequently who reports having a NW OF $30 million or thereabouts and also talks about a lot of donations to charity. They may also have said they are not rich enough to fly private.
There was a poster on here who said they have a $6B (B as in billion) IRA.

Tell us more! I enjoy his podcast but am not terribly surprised to hear this.

There's only one person I've heard that has that. So Peter Thiel is on this forum.

For Some percentage of those, their illness manifests in a pathological inability to enjoy the money they’ve earned (or inherited but mostly I think this is found among people who earned it).
If I was gojng to generalize, I would say that of anything the DCUM group tends to spending money they should not. Like people who have a six figure income who are gojng to rosewood Mayakoba and buying $3 million houses. Most of the folks on this site spend their money.
I’m also of the mind that I basically could have all the money in the world and I still wouldn’t fly private unless there was some very good reason like personal security concerns or a difficult to access destination. We have millions and I’d rather give it away to a good cause then waste money on things like that. And it Ramit thinks that’s laughable, he can stuff it!
