Can you provide a link showing the crime report for the area to support your review?

That stinks it was taking down OP.

People who like & frequent Philly have a very different definition of “safe” than you do.

All reviews are opinion based, in any case, I gave specific examples of recent crimes within 2 blocks of listing. Also a fact that I felt so unsafe there I did not spend the night.

That's why it was removed, OP. You didn't stay there.

Anonymous wrote:I posted early this week about an Airbnb that had an unsafe location and a misleading description of its location in its listing. As some advised, I wrote a truthful and measured review that did initially appear on the listing’s reviews. However, I checked this morning (3 days later) and my review has been removed. I intend to pursue this with Airbnb but wanted to make people aware that hosts apparently can and do remove negative reviews.

You’re the crazy Philly poster, right?

You sound like a sleazy host trying to justify why negative reviews shouldn’t be allowed.

Who is this person going around on every Airbnb thread accusing people of being “sleazy Airbnb hosts”?

This person provided a reasonable interpretation of the rules and a reasonable explanation for the question.

Who are these weirdos with this strange bone to pick with imaginary Airbnb hosts?

Honestly, they probably thought you were being racist with your comments.

You can’t get reviews removed unless they violate their policies.

The host reviewed me before I wrote my review. My post did appear the day I wrote it, but has since been removed.

I don't use airbnb as a host or as a guest (I prefer hotels), but it's in their TOS that you have to actually stay there to leave a review.

That isn't what Airbnb's terms of service actually say. Here's the policy on their web site:

If a guest never arrived for their stay or Experience, or had to cancel due to circumstances unrelated to that stay or Experience, their review may be removed.

I both arrived, and left early for reasons related to the stay, so review is appropriate.

Airbnb's policy also states:

You can’t remove a review written about you if you disagree with it, but you can report it to us if you think it violates our Reviews Policy. These reviews will be removed if they violate our Reviews Policy, and both guest and Host will be informed of this decision upon removal.

I was not informed at any time that my review was removed. It's all completely inappropriate.

Yes, I've had a negative review removed as well. It's why I no longer use Airbnb or VRBO.

My review wasn't even that critical. I simply included that the listing states there is a well-stocked kitchen, but that was not what we found and when we asked the host about it, they said the items available were all that were available. The stocked kitchen was 2 forks, 5 knives, 3 mismatched plastic plates, a tiny skillet, and 4 baking sheets. Not at all like the listing photos. The whole point of renting the location was to be able to cook there since we were going to be there for 12 days. It was annoying having to run to Walmart to buy pans, cooking utensils, and paper/plastic plates/cups/silverware.

I also mentioned that it was very easy to get locked out of the unit. They had a keypad lock attached to the deadbolt, but if someone turned the knob lock while exiting, there was no key for that lock and we would be responsible for contacting a locksmith to get back in. This was because the hosts lived out of state and apparently had no one nearby with that key. Kind of ridiculous, IMO. I was stressed about this aspect the entire trip because it's such second nature for me and my kids to turn the bottom lock when we exit our house at home. People got locked out twice but luckily someone was still inside each time. I ended up finding some medical tape & covering the knob lock so it couldn't be turned.

exactly, you can't review a place you didn't stay at. Another misleading troll probably from the hotel industry

I did stay there, for about 90 minutes. Enough time to feel that it would not be a safe location to return to after dark.

How did you not know the location ahead of time? Did you feel unsafe because your concerned of certain races of people? that's another red flag
