It sounds like DeSantis is making the just and morally correct call to enforce legal immigration requirements on employers and to protect vulnerable people.

Florida passed a minimum wage of $15 a few years ago. Reducing the illegal immigrant labor pool will let this minimum wage law apply to everyone. Minimum wage generally kills jobs, but if you have less low-skilled workers, then the wages will naturally go to this higher level, and the effects of the minimum wage law is not a big deal.
If it leads to higher prices, so what? The people most affected by the higher prices, will be making more money.

This is exactly what wealthy business owners want. And this is exactly why the influx of illegal immigrants will never subside. Both parties have donors who want this flow of cheap labor to continue.
Uh, and then you all will complain about how much things cost, right? Just like raising the minimum wage. Those costs are going to get passed on to consumers if/when these companies have to start paying fair wages. And every third post here, especially from the R's, is about "Biden's inflation". By the way, I'm all for stemming the flow of illegal immigration AND providing those here with appropriation protections so they won't be exploited, even if it costs more.

If they are granted citizenship, then they will get more pay, more worker protections. No longer fear of being found.
It is very perverted incentive for the current situtation.

That's true. But those are not the people who are going to fill those jobs. A huge number of them are remote workers looking to get more house for their dollar, better weather, etc. They aren't moving there to pick tomatoes or spread concrete. It's not a question of whether or not FL is a desirable place to live, it's a question of whether the jobs that need to be done are desirable to the people moving there. And they aren't. And I agree that we should pay a living wage as a default to all workers, which might make those jobs interesting to more Americans. But the fact is that we as a country are not to suddenly be cool with paying $4/tomato or a house costing significantly more in order to make that happen.
And just to add to this ^ - we already have an affordable housing crisis in Florida. DeSantis just kicked 250k people off Medicaid, too. Do you think the people who have unstable housing and healthcare can suddenly absorb food prices shooting through the roof?

The bottom line is that limiting immigration is bad for the economy. And it is mostly republican business owners who employ undocumented workers. There is a reason the GOP political class is against eVerify.
