I mean if you make them citizens and they are not as vulnerable, they will probably want more pay too.
At some point, we have to acknowledge and fix our addiction to cheap and/or illegal and outsourced labor.
This is exactly what wealthy business owners want. And this is exactly why the influx of illegal immigrants will never subside. Both parties have donors who want this flow of cheap labor to continue.

Ummm, wrong. Florida has had a massive inflow of people moving there from blue states. Keep up, grandma.
The people moving to Florida are retirees and whiny do-nothings. No one willing to labor in the Florida heat and humidity among them.

That's true. But those are not the people who are going to fill those jobs. A huge number of them are remote workers looking to get more house for their dollar, better weather, etc. They aren't moving there to pick tomatoes or spread concrete. It's not a question of whether or not FL is a desirable place to live, it's a question of whether the jobs that need to be done are desirable to the people moving there. And they aren't. And I agree that we should pay a living wage as a default to all workers, which might make those jobs interesting to more Americans. But the fact is that we as a country are not to suddenly be cool with paying $4/tomato or a house costing significantly more in order to make that happen.

Dems?
The bottom line is that limiting immigration is bad for the economy. And it is mostly republican business owners who employ undocumented workers. There is a reason the GOP political class is against eVerify.
Good for wages.
Bad for profit.
Rich man win.
