Adding - I will often put collagen protein in individual servings of pasta sauce, soup, or other lower protein foods to add extra protein to a meal for myself or my picky kids. It's a great item to have on hand! Coscto often discounts it, too.

OP you said you are at half of 60 grams now. That is really low so I'm wondering what you have been eating in a day that has so little protein.

I’m doing 1200 calories and 120 grams of protein under a medically supervised plan with Wegovy.

Breakfast: Chobani Compete (170 cal/20g protein) and a protein coffee shake, (70 cal/ 12 G protein).

I’m getting food from Mighty Meals for lunch. They have options at less than 500 calories (some 350 and below), 50 G protein. Filet tips salad. Buffalo chicken salad. Lean ground beef with some seasoning and onions, spinach, egg whites and salsa are a favorite. 50 G protein, 380 Cal

Snack: fulfil protein bar: 160 cals, 15 G protein

Dinner: I often don’t have much appetite because of the Wegovy, and have a smoothie: 2 cups mixed berries, 1 cup almond mild, 3/4 cup low-fat skyr. 275 cals, 17 grams of protein. I’ve started branching out to spinach, mango, pineapple.

That leaves me with 6 g of protein and 225 calories. I try to eat a Souper Girl gazpacho, which is 110 cals and almost no protein, but gets me a couple servings of veggies. Other snacks at 200 Cals of less and at least 7 G protein:

Cheese sticks, alone or wrapped in prosciutto
Parm Crisps
Egg white bites (I get six at a time from Mighty Meals)
Balanced Breaks
Protein Balls made with Kodiak Cake mix and Rx Almond butter
Turkey or Waygu Beef Jerky

120 G protein (withoUt protein powder). is doable with 1200 calories. But long term, it will be hard to maintain without some help from the Wegovy. Going from 2.5 to 5 tonight. The 2.5 helps— but wears off after 4-5 days and I spend a couple days starving.

Cottage cheese is amazing. Make sure to get lower sodium. Very low cal, tons and tons of protein and very tasty with a drizzle of honey, nuts, and some berries.

Tofu is the best! Get the firm tofu, drain it, rip it into pieces, put it on a pan, spray with olive oil spray, and then sprinkle seasoning (I like everything but the bagel). Then roast at 400 for 15 minutes, with some leafy veggies. So good!

Also sardines are great for a quick lunch on top of salad. Lo-cal, tasty, enough fat to satiate, and inexpensive.

OP, 60g of protein is too little honestly. You should be trying to get a 25-30g of protein in each meal. Egg whites mixed with a whole egg, cottage cheese, greek yogurt are all good options for breakfast. Lunch, you should be looking at turkey, chicken, salmon as potential options with a salad and a reasonable amount of carbs. Dinner, same with protein as the anchor of your meal and you can have it with veggies. Greek yogurt, almonds, hummus make good snack options.

Healthy fats in eggs are good for you - you can add in the extra whites for volume

I'm upping my protein right now to meet my goal weight - 135 grams of protein

Anonymous wrote:60 grams of protein is nothing OP. You need to strive for more than that. Also while I'm all for watching calories you have to be careful to not go the way of the 1990's trend of non-fat everything. That trend was a disaster for so many people.

I try to get 100-120 grams a day of protein per day, and I have to work hard to get more than 1200 calories a day which is too low. I'm 57F, post menopausal. And I weight train.

This is an example of how I get my protein, total calories 1600. approx 120 grams protein

Morning - pre-workout: Fairlife Protein Drink 30 grams of protein, 160cals. Delicious, low in sugar, very high in protein. https://fairlife.com/nutrition-plan/chocolate/

post-workout: 2 whole eggs, none of this egg white talk, you need the yolk. it's rich in nutrients. 12 grams protein, 160 calories. Side of berries.

Lunch: green salad with can of yellowfin tuna or whole chicken breast. I actually love tuna packed in olive oil. a whole can is 250 calories, 36 grams of protein.

Snack: Oikos Pro yogurt - 20 grams of protein, 140 calories. roasted almonds, which I toss into my yogurt so that's probably 8-10 almonds. 80 calories, 3 grams protein

Dinner: 4 oz salmon, side of quinoa
30 grams protein, 355 calories

Fairlife drinks are full of artificial sweeter, which is now being linked to diseases and actually doesn’t help with weight loss https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/artificial-sweeteners-health-risks-heart-disease-blood-sugar-rcna46717

And no, you don’t “need” egg yolk. Eat it if you want, it is heathy- but if you are trying to cut calories, it is fine to ditch it and just eat the protein filled white along with other sources if heathy fats. Most people aren’t short on getting enough fat in their diets. And egg yolk or not, everyone should be taking a vitamin D supplement.

Roasted edamame beans - crunchy like peanuts but with more protein

Edamame & mung bean noodles. 24 grams of protein and 14 grams of fiber and very low net carbs. Super filling & OK replacement for pasta, especially with toppings/sauce

I’d say tofu but I don’t really know how to cook it.

A good way to check if something is a high protein source is to take the grams of protein an multiply it by 10. If that number is greater than or equal to the number of calories it is a high source or protein.

my favorite high protein sources:
Greek yogurt
Cottage cheese
Chicken- breast and thighs
Lean ground beef (94/6)
Lean ground turkey (I prefer 93/7)
Fish/seafood- Shrimp, cod, salmon
Pork Tenderloin
Eggs
Egg whites- I mix them in with full eggs to bulk it up a bit more can also add to things like oatmeal
