Honestly all of them have their pluses and minuses. The key is to find a team where your child can swim with friends.

Maybe but my 12 yr old only has 4 in his/her lane at that location so it likely depends on the group/level.

At most clubs the lanes for the 8-10 year olds are overcrowded because so many people put their young kids into swimming. By age 11, some of those kids have quit and the more advanced kids are in smaller groups with less crowded lanes.
