I happen to know quite a few Landon boys and they are all a batch of boys who are confident and polite in the things they do. They range from boys who are either academically successful or athletically strong. It is unfortunate that Landon is receiving all of this negative press because honestly, it could happen at any school. Even at my DC's school. Yes the school's reputation is bad, but from what i've heard, Landon seems to be really reflecting and changing.

How would you recommend that they do that without looking pathetic?

If your son can handle the academics at Potomac, it would be foolish to turn it down in favor of Landon. If your family would prefer a less rigorous academic environment and a more intense athletic school, then Landon might be a better fit.
