If only they made letters for hoodies, pajama pants, and UGGs/Crocs ...

Yes, the absolutely wear them. Not in the numbers "back in the day" when I was in school. But there are still plenty that do.

Where? I’ve been teaching high school for over 20 years in two different states and haven’t seen any. I’ve never seen any of my own kid’s friends wear them either. Is this a private school thing?

Nope. Northern VA publics.

Exactly. Letter jackets haven’t been a thing since the 80s in the public schools. The letter sweaters died out in the 70s. At least in this area. A few still purchase but rarely wear then.

Yeah, maybe in this area, but I went to high school in Southern CA in the 90s and they absolutely were a thing. Pretty much everyone who earned a letter bought a jacket and wore it regularly.

I love this. I wore my dad's all through high school and college and thought it was the coolest.

Not at my kids HS. Both have earned a letter/pins, but they are in a shadow box in their room.

It was a huge deal for my son to order one, but he’s hardly worn it. It will be a nice memento from high school even if it doesn’t get worn.

Letter jackets are a thing at St Albans - but I think only for seniors. Since so many guys play sports, most students have them and wear them in the winter. I get the sense they are an anomaly though and not many other schools do this.

Teams also get to pick out a jacket (usually some sort of fleece or boat jacket) when they win a championship. So cross country, track, tennis and any team with a conference title have those too.

Our kids wear boat jackets specific to the sport (so multiple jackets if they play multiple sports)

The kids at my DD’s’ high school don’t even wear coats. I haven’t seen anyone where the letterman jacket.

It varies by my kid’s HS does. I love it and it feels like a throwback.

They buy class rings too.

But I get the sense they may be a minority in both.

I'm not the pp you are quoting, but I've seen them on other students when we've taken campus tours of colleges. To clarify, the students wearing them are current hs students on the tour, not college students on campus.

I grew up on the west coast and most of my high school classmates still live within 25 miles of our home town. I've seen their photos on facebook of their high school kids wearing letterman jackets, so apparently it's still a thing (at least at some schools/with some kids) out there.

We just ordered a letterman jacket for our kid, and I know a lot of his teammates' parents ordered for their kids as well.
