+1 we all get that teaching can be tough and it’s understandable to take the occasional mental health day to regroup, but you should not be using sick leave for a planned trip in any profession and are risking being fired by doing so.

Get someone to re-read your emails, then. But it's perfectly fine if you don't email parents regularly. My children's best teachers did not communicate with parents. But they were AMAZING teachers. Go be your amazing self in the classroom.

If you're missing assignments and critical content, I do have an issue with that. You have all summer (and don't give me crap about not . . . . I know LOTs and lots and lots of teachers and they do nothing but hang all summer, which is FINE btw. But their not training and doing lesson plans like the blathering I hear on here).
