We are contemplating a move to MD in part because we are mad that our current DCPS school takes away recess for a few kids acting up (which is against the regs here, too). Recess is important to us. Anyone willing to name the MCPS school, so I can know which ones to avoid?

Kids had to miss lunch and recess for a week for minor stuff??? I mean missing recess is bad enough but making them miss lunch is actually illegal…

So you support an active 5-year-old with ADHD being forced to miss running around at lunch and making their behavior worse.
When my son was being punished like this, it was for being unable to keep his body inside the square on the carpet.

See part III.C.2.b
Send that to the teacher and the principal and that should be the end of it.
