For anyone who has received a grant, how long did it take to receive the list of approved providers? I received an email today my kid was approved for a grant and to watch for an email soon with more info.

I’d read the fine print, but I don’t think so. Talk to your tutor (presumably now on the approved list). The program only started in late April, so I don’t think tutors can bill for services before they were approved.

If you contact tutors in your area or are willing to work with someone online, I think you’ll find quite a few would be delighted to work with you to come up with a way to help you spend $750 on tutoring for the summer.

It's per child I think. https://www.virginiamercury.com/2023/03/09/youngkin-announces-new-slate-of-efforts-to-address-learning-loss-in-virginia/

It’s per kid. Applied for both kids and each was approved for $1500.

It's amazing that these grants can be used for speech therapy.

Anonymous wrote:Hey, just wanted to remind VA residents that they state still has money for those $1,500 grants for tutoring. I vaguely remember seeing it mentioned in a school newsletter a while back. They sent another one a few days ago reminding people, I applied online (just had to upload proof of VA residency) and they already approved my family for the grant like two days later. Apparently it is first come, first serve up to $30m total.

If you have low HHI, you can get $3,000, but have to upload your tax return.

I thought it would be more complicated to apply and be approved for it, but apparently it isn't.

Thanks so much for sharing!! Did not know about this otherwise, and very grateful to be able to use this for our kiddo who has been struggling post pandemic!

Wow! I had very low expectations for this but sounds like it is much easier than I thought to apply. Thanks for sharing.
