This is inequitable. Think about the children who drop out, can’t afford college or choose a trade school.

NP, and I would never say never about this stuff (one of my kids struggled for a while in elementary school, and when he got an honor student decal in middle school, he wanted me to put it on my car, which I did), but why would strangers care where my kid goes to college? I'll tell the neighbors I chat with, because I'm sure it will come up.

Same in our McLean neighborhood. HS destinations, HS graduations & college destinations and the occasional birthday. I like seeing all the signs!

Most of the country does it now, but more for HS graduation not announcing next steps. but why not? what's the big secret OP?

I AM surprised that the school paid for and mailed the sign. I would assume some parents would jump on this idea.

Not GIVEN as far as I know, but UMD has a particularly large one you can purchase from the bookstore. Saw a few kids dragging them around during admitted student day.

Both my oldest kids went to college in CA - neither of their schools sent such a thing. If I were you, I'd just throw it out.

I agree they have common here in Bethesda in the past couple of years, but don't recall seeing them pre-COVID and have definitely seen very few this year. I thought it was a pandemic thing since those H.S. grads didn't get the typical celebrations. Maybe some schools have just decided to keep it going?
