I’m going this summer with a teen who is a sports fan and we’re going to a Blue Jay game. We have a hotel room that overlooks the field, so the plan is to watch batting practice from there and then go to the game. We plan to hit the Hockey Hall of Fame, as well.

PP- can you give me a ballpark range (no pun intended) of the hotel costs? I feel like when we looked, it was like $500 a night.

That's $375 in USD.

We went several years ago. One thing I remember is to buy Maid of the Mist tickets in advance. And even then, there was a big wait!

In Toronto, we took a ferry to Centre Island which was a very cool place to hang out for an afternoon. It was in the 90s when we were in Toronto!

And we loved the Scarborough Bluffs area and went to a Lake Ontario beach (Bluffers Park and Beach, I think) near there. Kids loved it. Calmer than the ocean but lots of fun.

Upping this to see if anyone has a good suggestion for a place to stay halfway between DC and Toronto? We have to leave late in the day so don't want to do the whole drive.

Ontario Science Center is great!

On the US/Niagara Falls side: jet boat whirlpool tour out of Lewiston, Fort Niagara, Olcott beach, Niagara Power Vista (kind of like a mini-science museum all about hydroelectric power). Spending time in the NF state park, of course - it’s beautiful. Maid of the Mist or Cave of the Winds, especially on a hot day.

We went last summer when our kids were 10, 8, and 6. These were all big hits.

Fort Niagara is fun for kids. It’s about a half hour from Niagara Falls in Canada. And the whirlpool park is cool to see on the US side.

If there's time, consider going east a bit to eat at St Lawrence Market, visit Museum of Ilusions, have a coffee or Gelato at Distillery district.

Downtown near Harborfront if you're mostly doing things near the waterfront, CN tower etc. But there's a lot of concrete.

Annex/Yorkville is a nice area, near ROM, University of Toronto campus. If I could afford it, this is where I would buy.

We did a 5 day spring break trip to Niagara Falls & Toronto one year. We also stopped in Pittsburgh on the way back. For Toronto, the ROM is must-do. At NF, the boat ride & going behind the falls is cool, as is walking around the state park on the US side. In summer, you can visit beach parks on Lake Ontario or Lake Erie. You can also visit sites associated with the canal, and the ship museum in Buffalo is cool.

Toronto PP here…that sounds great! Jays games are so much fun. And you’ll be very well-located for walking around.
