Not unless you know the exact brand, size, lid type and color that they want and whether they want their name and school logo slapped on it. And good water bottles are much more than 12. I would do a small decorative item with the school logo or a Starbucks card.

Both universities that mine attend gave incoming freshmen lanyards for their student IDs and dorm keycards. They have to swipe to get into the building and then their individual dorm room doors have a key lock entry.

No college student is going to walk around with a personalized water bottle. They’ll all get merch at orientation, including water bottles with school logo.

My child and her friends have key cards which are carried in card holders mounted on the backs of their phones. My daughter's key card holder has the school logo on it. Nobody seems to have lanyards unless they are employed by the school (admissions tour guides etc.).
