I always liked BGR burgers. Smash burger was also pretty darn good.

This applies to steak too. One of the easiest things to cook. If you splurge for a good cut of steak at grocery/butcher, you save a lot of money.

Not to derail, but could you describe how to do this for a non-cook? I basically know how to microwave popcorn, but own the usual pots and pans.

To go to Roy Rogers and order anything other than their delicious roast beef sandwiches should be a punishable crime.

The RB is good too , but gotta try the double bacon cheeseburger with bbq and horseradish sauce, with lettuce tomato onion and jalapeños from the Fixins Bar...especially if hungover. Deeelicious.

I love a good burger.

I’ve had great burgers recently at The Capital Burger on 7th and NY, Nanny O’Brien’s in Cleveland Park, and Silver in Cathedral Commons.

I miss 701 and BBB downtown which both had great burgers, the former on their lunch special with a glass of wine, amazing.

RIP fuddruckers — they made a great burger for decades in all areas of the country.

I like BGR if you want a juicy type rare burger and shake shack if you want a flat type burger. I think the fries at both five guys and shake shack are inedible. The best fries in the DMV used to be at WTF (Woodward table food) on H street. For a while they sold chili cheese fries that were incredible.

Shake Shake is way better than Five Guys in terms of burgers, but not fries.

For a simple burger, Five Guys is hard to beat. As much as I like Five Guys, it’s a once per year treat. Those burgers and fries, while tasty, are so bad for you. I haven’t had it in awhile, but Silver Diner has an amazing lamb burger.
