No. Very few “Japanese” cars sold in the US are actually made in Japan these days.
Don't ask me why, but my son is fascinated with Nissan manufacturing so I know from his desire to get a high end Nissan one day that many Nissans are still imported. (He searches car dealership lots by the manufacturer origin data on the dealership websites before we drive across the state to see a new GTR). So here are some Nissans made in Japan.
The high-end 370Z and GT-R are produced at the Tochigi Plant in Kaminokawa, Tochigi.
Crossover SUVs Rogue and Murano, Versa and Cube, along with the sporty 350Z, are produced at the Oppama Plant in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa.
