Some people claim that, but nobody has ever named one outside of Potomac, so seems unlikely.
You can do this all over the county, but people are leery of mentioning their school. Plus, it only applies to a tiny portion of the population. But every single time this comes up on DCUM, here is the troll, spewing venom at Potomac, for some reason. What did that part of MCPS ever do to you?
Not really, the only schools that do this are in Potomac but for some reason, the PP likes to pretend otherwise.
Other schools have been mentioned. My child is one of three in a BCC middle school that did this, but boy was the math coordinator unhappy at having to accommodate them! He refused a few kids coming from the CES compacted math, because the test-in questions were Algebra ones, and he wanted them to get everything right. Which is a ridiculous standard, considering normal students don't need to already know Algebra 1 in order to naturally move up to Algebra 1. So only 3 kids managed to get into the class... which was then predictably easy for them. I am certain that all my kid's CES cohort would have been able to handle it.
Wrong again... The only schools that have been mentioned are a few in wealthy areas.

The earlier poster is understandably concerned that if becomes common knowledge that these wealthy schools are providing opportunities that aren't available elsewhere the county will put an end to it.

Eastern has 6th graders taking algebra. Unless it’s moved since my kid was there, Eastern isn’t in Potomac.

Most MCPS schools don't do this, but a few in the wealthier areas will accelerate kids with 250+ map-m.
My kid got a 5th grade winter MAP of 270. Should I push for this? (I’m not inclined to)
When mine was in 5th, they also scored in the 270s. Our home school doesn't offer this as an option. Sure, they could've easily handled Algebra, but it gave them more time to absorb the material. By the end of the 6th, they were scoring in the 290s, so they seemed to be doing fine. They're headed to Blair SMCS and will probably be in the same class with kids a year ahead of them. In the end, it made no difference.
It's done to keep the kids at the home school vs. leaving for private or other situations.
