I had a nice time at Bull Run Winery, but I'm not picky. Do a tasting, don't like things, fine. It's just a tasting. Paradise Springs has straight up undrinkable reds but they have pizza and are near a hiking trail, so... meh? Not a terrible way to spend the afternoon.

Yeah, no. I'm not paying $75 for any wine from Virginia. You can get am amazing and highly rated bottle of red for that price.

I am no wine snob, but VA reds taste horrible. It's the soil. One time on this site someone mentioned a "good one" and when you looked it up, the grapes were from CA but re-planted in VA.

Go farther north and stay a few nights at the Inn at Little Washington. We did this for our anniversary a few years ago and booked a Kitchen Table dinner reservation and stayed in the Gamekeeper’s Cottage.

Barboursville is solid.

RDV (recently renamed to Lost Mountain) is one of the only true nice vineyards in that area. The wine is great. Most of the others just have a nice picnic area of view and the wine is sort of an afterthought.

Agreed with RDV. Greenhill Vineyards is also worth a mention-specifically the Cabernet franc. And I travel to Napa & Europe all the time. Don't listen to the naysayers, they just want to sound cool.

I wouldn’t try the wines, as I had enough in Loudoun County and just one of them was decent. I would just enjoy the views, have a charcuterie board with a glass of water, and do other fun things without a drop of alcohol in my precious organism.

++1. Fully agree with both. If its a hot day, I can tolerate a chilled white. Don't even bother with the reds.

Also, to the poster that said Trump winery, I assume that was a joke. He doesn't drink and it shows in the wine there.
