Yes. We married very young and DH was in the Navy. Between college, duty days, deployments, traveling as newlyweds and military life, we waited 4 years before having our first.

Married at 25, ttc at 29, 2 miscarriages then kids at 30, 32, 34.

We would have tried sooner but didn't want to have kids while one of us was doing grad school. I was impatient to start trying earlier but am glad we had some more time as a couple before having our kids ... it gave us a stronger base as a couple. I'll be sad for our kids to leave the nest but also looking forward to more time for us together.

Married at 28, TTC at 33. We planned out baby around what works for us vs what's others did.

Married at 22 first baby at 29 (got pregnant quickly). TTC for baby 2 now at 32 and it’s taking longer than expected.

Got married at 22. Waited until 28, when I was in my last year of grad school, to start trying. Had kids at 29 and 31.

Married at 24. First baby at 28. Got pregnant instantly, was just waiting for DH to finish law school and to buy a (town)house. If money had been no issue, I probably would have TTC a year or two earlier.

For married at 27. TTC at 30. First baby at 38 using donor eggs. Second at 40, third at 43. Probably could have had a baby at 27 but was infertile by 30. It’s always a gamble.

We met at 20, married at 25 and waited until 30 for kids.

Maybe people are marrying later because they don’t find their person until later? Not everyone meets their spouse at 20 like you did. I would rather have kids in my 30s than have kids with the wrong person in my 20s. Why do people on this board bash “older” parents with such glee?

Yup. 3 years. We wanted to build a solid foundation for our marriage before we introduced the demands and stresses and requisite inattention of children.

Married at 26, married 7 years before we started TTC; child born when I was 34.

I was still in school when we got married and not ready to be a parent.
