This is the direction jewelry is taking given how gemstones are no longer a status symbol due to the availability of lab stones. Chunky gold and artisan work. That said, this is the lower-end and old lady sensibility version of that.

So if you like Chico's, this is on brand for you. But also, you should stop shopping at Chico's -- it shows a serious lack of taste.

I spent more on a costume jewelry necklace than I would have ordinarily because I thought a boutique jeweler would have higher standards of craftsmanship than traditional brands available at department stores. While the designs are lovely, the gold plating started wearing off my expensive necklace after very few wearings. I contacted the company and they responded they do not replace jewelry after more than 10 days after purchase! I have Trifari costume pieces from the 1970’s that look better than Susan Shaw only a couple of years old. Not worth the price.

It’s crap! And their customer service is not much better! I’ll never buy another piece from them!

I also think it’s overpriced for plate.

It’s complete JUNK! My husband bought me a $190 Susan Shaw necklace that I had been admiring. Wore it once & it broke (I won’t mention that the gold plate has already started turning after only wearing it twice). I reached out to the company & they said they were not doing repairs at that time, but will except repairs in June, but I would have to pay $25 for the repair plus the shipping. Are you kidding me? Almost $200 for costume jewelry & they won’t even stand behind their craftsmanship? Terrible customer service!!!

I would just go with cheaper costume jewelry you like OP, rather than buy Susan Shaw. But I'm odd in dcum land, I love fun cheaper costume jewelry which doesn't have much intrinsic value other than to look fun.

That said, I am not familiar with Susan Shaw but saw the ads on Instagram. I like some of her pieces but gold plated jewelry tends to tarnish over time. I think that the prices are rather high for costume jewelry so I decided not to order.

I’ll say it—those if you making fun of the OP for having a necklace from Chicos are b****es.
