I agree in part with you. The places on the bottom of our addresses are the names of the postal offices and their associated number. You will find though that some places are served by a PO with a name other than the place named on their house title.
I also agree the Oakhill area is part of the Herndon area — just like some areas just outside Falls church city are called Falls Church.
The earlier PP wants to separate any association with Herndon because they lived in Oak Hill as if it is somehow superior or a widely-known area.
No, that's not why. It is because it is not any closer to The Town of Herndon than it is to the area of Chantilly or Oakton or the town of Vienna. It is surrounded by all of them. Those that go to Navy are closer to Chantilly and Oakton. Those that go to Oak Hill are closer to Chantilly. Those that go to Crossfield are closer to Reston, Chantilly, and Oakton. Etc. Those that go to South Lakes are closer to Reston.
So, what is the easiest to say where you live? Oak Hill. Do you really expect someone living nexgt to Fair Oaks Hospital to say they live in Herndon?

During the 2008 South Lakes boundary study, that neighborhood was rejected by both the South Lakes and the Herndon PTAs.
Fox Mill is in Oak Hill. None of use it but we are not Reston or Herndon. And we moved to SLHS in 2008.
Fox Mill is not the neighborhood that PP was talking about.

Actually part of Floris ES was moved from Westfield to South Lakes as part of that boundary change.

To the OP, the only possible area I can think of is crossfield ES district. But unless the mythical Western HS is built (which will never happen), I don’t think we will see a boundary change.
As for the name, Oak Hill, they should have named the area Floris because it was called Floris long time ago. Floris had its own post office and high school, and was never part of Herndon.

It’s right next to Franklin Farm but I don’t ever really hear Franklin Farm people say they live in Oak Hill. They just say Franklin Farm. But then houses further away closer to the town of Herndon use Oak Hill. It’s weird.
I grew up in Franklin Farm, moved away for a couple years, and then moved back to Franklin Farm. Not once have I heard someone say they live in Franklin Farm. They say they live in Oak Hill or Herndon. Even when working at events at the schools or at youth sporting events, I've only ever heard people say Oak Hill or Herndon. I've never heard anyone say Franklin Farm as though it's an address, town, or incorporated city.
