DD applied everywhere EA (all state schools) and is down to her final 2. Just this week she's decided she's worried about choosing the "lower ranked" school, even though it's likely the better fit. I'm sure a lot of it is just freaking out about the future, but it's getting ridiculous. Please tell me I'm not the only one dealing with this right now.
tell us where she’s deciding between, and I’m sure we can figure out where she should go!!!
OP here - choices are UMD and Towson.
Is the tuition difference too difficult to afford? If you can afford it I would recommend UMD instead
+1 why is Towson a better fit?

I think the kid will need to call. When we went through this last year, colleges only wanted to deal with the student. We had good results.
Call the Admission Officer.
Here is the deal - it might be better for MHC to give a little merit aid and sign the deal.
The Admissions Officer will know where the school is for hitting #s.
It is totally worth a call.
Have you DD send an email and ask for a 15 minute call and say that she wants a parent on the call as well.
It is great that she is trying to be independent - but understanding how it works and the nuances are beyond her years.

did she get merit and from those SLACs?
No merit from the SLACs she's seriously looking at. Just from ones she doesn't like, or feels are too low ranked.
DP. Why doesn't she contact FA office of tge ones she likes with the offers from the others? You never know what they might respond. Good luck!
do the SLACs she likes offer merit aid?
No, they don't.
