Because they need the money and I don't want them sitting around the house doing nothing for six weeks. You can spoil your kids if you want, but I'm not going to spoil mine.

Your child is most fortunate to have an outstanding parent like you.

Freshman year is stressful with all the logistical, social and academic adjustment. I would let mine relax at home, if they've emotional energy to do something before getting on the hamster wheel again for internship, they'll think of it themselves.

Good one. Busy season is over by July 4th. The physical work will be good for him & clear his head of bookwork.

making young adults get a job is one thing. Bulldozing on behalf of your kid getting a job is another.

if a kid posted here looking for ideas, that would be one thing. But this was his mother asking.

Thanks for your ideas!

Your college freshman should be old enough and mature enough to not have his mommy asking on his behalf.

It's ridiculous. It's actually smart to seek ideas because "summer jobs," especially those that only last six weeks, are hard to come by.

Sign up with a temp agency. They can work with their strict availability.

OP said he has an internship.

My kid who’s in college works all school year. Maybe OP’s kid should try that?

Former temp agency recruiter.

Have him call a temp agency for an interview/appointment. He should dress neatly, bonus if he shows up in khakis/nice shirt and triple bonus if he wears a tie. We’d send candidates like DS out immediately, post-interview.

Do you always talk about your adult child like they are 5?
The time for spoiling or not is over.
How about you tell this adult to get a job themselves instead of mommy funding one for them. I hear all the young'uns nowadays know how to use the internets.
