Stay away from stupid team sports. Do what Asian people do, and it’s golf.

Baseball or softball. Never underestimate a tiny strike zone.

I was going to say this also. Overall, I think she should pick what she likes best. Size may be an issue as she gets older, but the "tiny girl" options are all terrible.

She’s too old to start competitive gymnastics.

Height doesn’t matter for field hockey. Aggression is good, but you also need to be strong and speed is important.

Not for my kid who went division 1

Field hockey is good for shorter girls.
Let her play whatever she wants but while it's not a death knell for playing...and while the best kids will rise no matter what... most sports teams (soccer, lacrosse, basketball) are going to want bigger girls vs waifs. And you as a parent may care when your tiny girl is colliding with larger girls on the field.

I topped out at 5’3 and played basketball and softball all through HS, and was recruited to play softball in college. If your DD is a competitive kid that’s not intimidated by competing against kids bigger, definitely let her try her hand at basketball. I was a go to defender for my team, and I would guard wings 5 inches taller than me because I was fast and aggressive and not afraid to mix it up. It would frustrate the hell out of them because they thought they could just over power me or shoot over me and would take them totally out of their game. Especially for girls, being small in stature is not a total death knell for most sports.

Not especially. Her biggest asset seems to be that she's aggressive and determined.

I'm absolutely going to let her play anything she wants, but if someone told me that something like lacrosse or field hockey or whatever was really friendly to a smaller stature kid, I'd introduce it as an option to try out.

Girls in her grade have started to growth spurt, so some look like teens and she still looks like a 2nd grader. It's becoming a big gap to overcome with just determination and I think she still has a few years before she catches up at all.

My aggressive, determined smaller boy is a baseball catcher. It’s quite physical and aggressive. She could do softball or baseball at her age.
