You've obviously never been a teacher. Imagine being in a building with 200 other people that make 150 copies a day (conservative) and only having 2-3 copy machines. And now imagine walking to the machine and finding it's broken and now you have to walk across the building to see if that copier is working. And you are doing this on your free period where you also have to eat lunch, attend a meeting, and do some grading.

It's more that you have to leave your room to use the shared equipment, wait if others are using it. Teachers time where they are not responsible for students is very limited. But most people figure out a system that's not too cumbersome. It's just that there are thousands of small things like this that need to be managed.

Instead of grades we'd have courses and levels that students could work through. Sometimes kids are above grade level in math, but below in English.
Anyone would be allowed to take honors/gifted/AAP courses as long as they made A's and B's. They'd be downshifted if they needed a slower course to master the material.
WAY more freeplay and recess. School should go 8-4:30 at least and the extra 2 hours would be spent with additional recess.
Kids must master the material in order to move on.
