All the SLACS we visited in the northeast were 77K, OP. Admittedly better known that Spelman.
DS is going to a uni that's 85K, with a 20K scholarship.

Seriously! What do you mean higher ranked? Are these other schools higher ranked in their outcomes and achievements for Black women?
Are the higher ranked for providing an environment that will understand , empower, affirm, and encourage your daughter for all of who she is???
Are they higher ranked for providing an education that is tailored to her?
Are they higher ranked in not making her feel like she got in due to affirmative action?
Are they higher ranked in teaching black history without being concerned about being called out about CRT?

Do some research!

PS even my DD’s white girlfriend’s know the value of a Spelman education.

It's one of the best HBCUs in the country.
Corporate America recruits heavily from there for diversity.
Same with Morehouse and Howard.

Tuition is about $28K. That's about what you pay at UVA or W&M in-state. Not expensive these days.

I wish that was the cost of my DD’s SLAC…81k seems about right..

I’ve heard better things about Spelman than Howard. Lots of issues with the dorms at Howard.

You want a daughter that can walk into any room and kick ass with confidence in who she is, an all women's HBCU is a double-whammy.

+100 My kid goes to an HBCU and I find that group really helpful for anything HBCU related.

Howard is almost 50k/yr too.

Which PWI was she accepted to, if you don’t mind sharing? What is the cost differential? Will you be able to afford Spelman without parent or private loans?

It is a bargain considering what your daughter(s) get out of those years

My DD goes to Spelman, it's close to $50K/year. That is just to the school. Doesn't include the money we send to DD and travel to and from.

For a private that is not outrageous. In my state the instate publics are $36k/year.

That's not expensive. And there are a million outside scholarships only open to HBCU students that are not available to the same students attending PWIs. You also have access to a truly global network of successful women. What's that worth to you?
