We have the Friskars and it works well - easy to push, easy to fold and store. But it can’t manage really long grass or the tall seeded heads that grow in the spring. My husband uses a cutter for those and then the roller. Very small yard - takes about 30 minutes to cut and edge.

I like our Fiskars one better than the Scott's one we had before.

I like being able to mow early, before it's hot, without bothering the neighbors

It probably looks terrible to others, but I just use a weed whacker on my small lawn. It does the job for a tiny row home yard.

I use a reel mower for my 0.5 acre backyard. The only reason I do it myself for now it’s to keep the guys from the landscaping company (they mow the front yard) away from my patio, flower beds, the hammock, the vegetable garden, and my precious peonies.

I use one for our 0.25 acre yard. I grew up on a farm where it took 2 days to cut all the grass with a combination of farm tractor/bushog and trimming with a push mower (before they were self-propelling). So, for me, even at 57, push a reel mower is not a big deal. When/if the grass gets too long, I'll either use a weed wacker briefing or I'll power a neighbor's mower. Since I freely give flower bouquets from my beds, no one minds lending me their mower a few times a year - a time or two for grass and once in spring and fall to mow over the leaves for composting. It's nice not having to keep gas/oil and do the maintenance as you do for a gas powered mower. There's still some maintenance but not much.
