Design the shower so you don't need either glass or curtain

I've never understood glass doors. I had them in a former house and took them out, replaced with shower curtain. I can't stand cleaning the glass doors. Shower curtain you just throw into the wash.
In my new house, we used a shower curtain in walk-in shower. The shower is large, so you don't even need a shower curtain, but we have one to catch shampoo splatters, etc. The floor never gets wet. There's a curtain and a liner, both made of fabric, and both easy to wash.
Hotels always have shower curtains. What's the big deal? Glass doors are so heavy and expensive for showers. And all that squeegee-ing!! Not for me!!

Why do people prefer doors and to be seen?

I think people who said it looks cheap just have a cheap taste. You can definitely have a high end bathroom with a curtain and it will look very expensive.

I kept a curtain in two bathrooms that was completely gutted and redone. The first one was in my teen bathroom I know they are not going to clean the glass regularly and I had no intention to scrub it on weekends. I just make them take the curtain down once every two week, laundry and they put it back. So much better than dirty glass.

We have a large walk in shower with a curtain - I can't imagine it any other way. Agree on the privacy thing.

We did. I like it. The shower is big enough that it doesn’t touch you when you are showering.

I have an average sized walk in shower with just a curb and very little water makes it to the other side of the curb. Just wipe it with a towel quickly after taking a shower and you are good to go.

I stayed at a hotel recently with one. It was (mostly) fine. The shower entrance was flush with the floor, with no lip - easy in and out. It had a long, thin drain spanning the full width at the border edge. Unfortunately, it also had a curved curtain rod designed to give a little extra space. Bad combination, as the curtain hung just beyond the drain. Oops.

I used an extra towel to hold the curtain over the drain, but it was a real mess.

I don't think curtains look cheap. You can absolutely get really nice quality curtains, and i love the look of using two curtains in a wider shower opening.

Thanks DCUM home decor researchers. I've had the same question as I love mixing up the look of the bathroom with shower curtain, bath rug, and towels.

I prefer shower curtains for same reasons others have said + privacy if it’s in anything other than an en suite (maybe just because with three kids I feel like someone is always coming into the bathroom I’m in despite there being two others haha). We have a walk in w a 5 inch lip in our family bathroom upstairs and it’s great.
