Yes. My mom’s oldest brother moved to Australia right after college, long before any of the kids in the family were born. He married a local woman and then lost contact with his family. To be fair I don’t think either side tried hard. We get news of him and his family through mutual relatives but I’ve never met him.

Yep! My dad is the baby of 10. I've only met the 4 closest in age to him.
