I would expect a head of school to reply to an email within a business day, simply because I'm assuming you only email a head of school after teacher and advisor and other staff haven't been able to address the issue, and there is some serious issue going on with your kid.

For your child’s advisor, MAYBE. Not for HOS. They are getting paid the big bucks because they have a lot more responsibility than monitoring their email for parent communications.

I assume if a parent emails the HOS then it is important - maybe unresolved bullying issue. highest priority should be the students so a parent’s communication should be highly priority for the HOS. Some have an assistant monitoring the emails so shouldn’t be a big deal to respond. Unless it’s a parent who is sending an unreasonable number of emails response should be 2 days max.

We are at a k8 and HOS usually responds within a day. I’ve only emailed once in 6 years but other parents have emailed and get quick responses. We are not big donors or anyone with clout

My kid is about to graduate hs and I’ve never sent an email to the HOS. Send to division head, academic dean and counselor but never had an issue that had to be escalated all the way to HOS.

Um, the HOS can be booked solid (back to back meetings, calls, events, etc.) on a weekday. They might not even be able to open their email until the evening.

Division heads, advisors, and the HOS' assistant are all a good place to start, depending on what you need.
