Yeah. It’s not as easy to get these appointments as some posters make it out to be. I know a couple different people who tried daily and failed. A lady in one of my points & miles FB groups actually DID fly to Hawaii to get her passport renewed because she couldn’t find anything else. She used points of course!

Southwest makes it easy to cancel flights, if you book with miles you get all your miles back

Most flights booked with airline miles are fully refundable. And like a PP mentioned, a Canadian hotel reservation works too.

DP here. Don’t hate the player hate the game. What OP is proposing is allowed.

It is lying and cheating and people like you are exactly the reason why everything is harder for everyone else.

If the government wanted to restrict it to true emergencies, they easily could. They don’t. They allow this. Sorry you don’t like it. Also, if they hired more staff, this could all be avoided. There is no reason it needs to take this long. None.

No it’s harder because people aren’t planning ahead, you included.

We’ve done this a few times…once we used a hotel reservation, but the other times we used a confirmation number for a flight that we later cancelled. Our initial appt was in Buffalo, NY as the DC passport office was booked, but I called back early the next morning and was able to get an appt in DC. We had to pay more for the passports, but we got them the same day. Good luck👍

We expedited my sons passport in late February. It took 5 weeks from appointment to receipt. We did my other sons non expedited. It was eight weeks from appointment to delivery. Both were in person appointments.

It is now 7-9 weeks for expedited processing,

The delay is everyone like you needs a passport now. People went years over CoVID not looking at their passport or traveling. State Department has said they’re now processing 500,000 applications a week, and everyone wants it expedited.
