I had an honors student just ask for extra credit because she has a 97.8 average. I don't know what to say anymore

Unfortunately, As are given out without much effort on the part of the child for quarters and quarters and years and years. They become accustomed to the idea that is where they should be. Then, in high school, they get a whole new level of crazy with a bump in GPA for As in certain classes, thus creating the belief that they should always be higher than a 4.0. It’s a huge disservice for the children and feeds the perfectionist child’s inability to handle failure.

Marking period just started so don't asked for extra credit when you have 90%.......

Are you sure it's the parents? My DD used to freak out about her grades and it was 100% from her. I did not pressure her about her grades.

+1 I have been telling my magnet kid that it's ok to get a B for a long time, but they are adamant that they don't want a B. The pressure is not coming from us, the parents.

She sounds like she is anxious because she is on the borderline of a B, so she wants extra credit.

IMO, it's not healthy to have that attitude for a kid. Too much pressure on themselves.

OTH, my kid is super smart, and doesn't have to try hard to get an A (not to mention how there is grade inflation where we are), so if they do get a B, I know that it's cause they are slacking off. But, they are a senior now, so it's up to them if they want to break their straight A record.

That’s too bad. At least they can have a retake even if they get caught cheating!

If OP is a teacher, he/she needs to brush up on grammar!
