This is a strange choice, but I wonder if it's like the Gucci watches that had the interchangeable color bezels and were super popular in the 90s? Those are huge in my kid's schools (one in public and one in private). But the girls all wear their mom's old watches. I donated mine ages ago to my daughters' dismay. Maybe this particular Swatch watch is popular in the girl's country? I know Swatch watches continued to be popular in Europe long after they were no longer trendy in the USA.
