really? with what employees? have you ever done this sort of sweep? effectively patrolling these fields would take half a dozen payroll hours daily.

MCPS would rather spend money on all sorts of other useless initiatives. So much wasted money and Central Offie bloat in MCPS.

Perhaps, but law enforcement would fall under the domain of MCPD. MCPS is in the education business not policing illegal drug use.

This county clearly has a drug problem and it doesn’t seem like our local politicians are even trying to do anything about it.

OMG OMG, it's soooo crazy! My head is going to esplode! What shall we do chicken little?

They didn't find them outside, that is the MCPS story that is not fact.

You realize most of the IB students at RM pop Adderall nightly to focus on all night studying? It is wildly popular and taken all of the time by high school and college students. From the comments, I am sure if one of your teens was caught purchasing them near College Gardens you expect them to go to jail. Give me a break.

Why kids and teens and adults need to pop pills to get thru the day is the issue here. Not jail time for pot or pill popping. It's a sad state of affairs in this overpriced, overpopulated, high expectation area we live in.

Sure. Because drugs aren’t an issue in rural, poor, underpopulated areas.
Or because drugs aren’t a problem in inner cities, which are not usually thought of as ‘high expectation’ areas.

Also, your comments about RMIB kids popping Adderall nightly are disgusting and incorrect. I have a kid at the RMIB and I’d be almost positive that it wasn’t an IB kid who left those meth pills lying around at College Gardens.

You’re okay with people smoking pot o get through the day, but on the other hand you’re dying the issue is people popping pills.

Your post makes zero sense.

The PP didn't say an RMIB student left drugs there. They were mocking those crying about pot and pushing jail time when it has nothing to do with this case. And yes, many kids - IB or not, pop Adderall. Many ADHD kids sell half of theirs and don't take their does Fri-Sun and make a lot of money. I remember them going for $5 a pill about 6 years ago. The fact that you are in complete denial of Adderall and stimulant abuse by students is scary. 1 in 4 kids in middle/high school absue them. Of course the drug deals are going to happen around schools.

Also LEGAL pot and edibles are not laced with Fentanyl or other crap. Adderall is now being reproduced and laced for selling. So yes, popping pills is more addictive and dangerous than lighting up a joint or eating and edible.

You are unhinged and nuts. "most of the IB students at RM" is unsubstantiated, unfair claim that aims to paint a broad brush on a group of kids for no justifiable reason other than your decision to make drug use among teens like not a big deal.

You are horrible.

Agreed. The kids are not the problem here.

It’s a county that allows rampant drug use. When there are no punishments for drug use and we have drug deals going on right ON school grounds, you end up with drugs left behind (or weapons as was the case at Brook Grove ES recently).

No, this is not an issue with ‘irresponsible idiots’ who are 7 year olds. It’s our local politicians who have allowed drug use to proliferate throughout the county.

Some kids won't eat loose "candy" they find, and will grow up to be responsible citizens, but those kids probably also won't become the adventurers and explorers we also cherish.

Omg. You are blaming 7 year olds for poor decision making? Try blaming the agencies that let this stuff in the country. Try blaming the county for not prosecuting drug crimes. Try blaming the school for not doing a morning sweep of the grounds. Blame the adults for lack of supervision. Blame the dealers for being a scourge on society. Blame the users for being useless drug users that can't keep track of their stash. The 7 year olds are not culpable in this situation. They are 7.

THIS

There is plenty of blame to go around. None of it should be on the kids.

I would have phrased it differently, but...kinda this. 7-year-olds should absolutely know better than to eat random stuff lying around on the playground. I would expect the average 4-year-old to know better.
